<br />
This weeks shopping trip was super successful. I was able to get the bill to $50.31. My budgeted goal for weekly shopping is $50, and I almost never get it right at $50! So I'm really pleased. I had a few packs of meat from the past few weeks in my freezer so besides menu items, I just stocked up on a few breakfast and pantry staples. See below for my menu plan for the week.<br />
<br />
<u>Mix and Match Buy 5 Save $5</u> was the highlighted sale for this weeks circular. I always find really great savings when they have this type of sale. Here are a few of the items that I purchased from this sale: <br />
<br />
Post Cereal $1.77<br />
Red Baron Pizza $2.79 (there is a digital coupon for $1 off when you buy two)<br />
Gold Fish $0.99<br />
Kraft Mayo $2.50<br />
Land O Lakes Margarine $0.66<br />
Hungry Jack Pancake Mix $1.50<br />
Kens Salad Dressing $1.50<br />
Kraft Salad Dressing $1.50<br />
<br />
Some other noteworthy items: Kroger brand canned beans and canned tomatoes are on sale for $0.50 per can! I tend to stock up a bit on these. They are perfect to add to a meal last minute because they are already cooked. Red, yellow, or orange peppers were $0.99. These peppers are both yummy and pretty, and typically cost at least $2 wherever you shop.<br />
<br />
My proposed menu plan was possible due to the stock of meat I already have in my freezer. For next weeks shopping trip, I'll have to purchase some more. Menu planning has always been a struggle for me, so this loose plan is what I'll be cooking for dinner on whatever day I feel like cooking. Also, whenever I cook, I make enough to have left overs. I don't have the time to cook every single day. <br />
<br />
I have the following items already on hand: ground turkey (Italian flavored, and taco flavored), family sized pack of chicken legs, lettuce, large can of tomatoes for spaghetti sauce, and brown rice (I buy my brown rice at Dollar Tree. For some reason you can't mess this rice up even if you tried. I love it!)<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>Spaghetti with ground turkey and tomato sauce, garlic bread and tossed salad </li>
<li>Tacos with black beans, brown rice , tomatoes, lettuce, and sour cream</li>
<li>Jerk chicken (making this for the first time!), rice and beans, roasted carrots</li>
<li>Lunch: PB&J, frozen pizza, salad, grilled cheese, leftovers</li>
<li>Breakfast: pancakes, grits, cereal, eggs, sausage, turkey bacon, and toast (hubby makes breakfast every morning, so he will choose from this selection of items)</li>
</ul>
Always check you sales flyer for you area by going to <a href="http://www.kroger.com/">www.kroger.com</a> <br />
<br />
Stay tuned for next weeks shopping list and menu plan. <br />

I got pregnant and super crazy lazy all at the same time. No really, I have been sleeping my life away for the most part while I'm not at work. Scheduled cleaning, projects, and spending time with my family has all been put off for some much needed sleep during my first trimester (which I am nearing the end of). Anywho, just wanted to regroup and update on a few things that have fallen by the wayside.<br />
<br />
Couponing is damn near non existent at this point. This pregnant lady has no clue what she wants to eat, so food shopping has been interesting and expensive. With that said, I have completely busted my budget and savings on food and two vacas in April. Doing real good huh! I am still using a written budget, but have depleted my savings for nonsense purchases. Word of advice: if you are ever blessed with a bit of extra money, be sure to put/keep it in savings, pay a bill, or do whatever you intend it for fast. Holding onto extra money has done nothing for me, but be spent on BS. Sad I know.<br />
<br />
I figured if I would post on my shitty job as the executive creator of drtcheap, and how I've been spending so frivolously, that perhaps, I would have a tad more incentive to hold myself accountable at this point. After all, my savings are depleted (there wasn't much in there to begin with) and there is another mouth to feed on the way! Stay tuned as I get back on track, while preparing for our new family member :)<br />

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue light" , , "helvetica" , "arial" , sans-serif;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2WK3L2wuIfSB4AfFverJ8ckf_KSnTaEfWf7aVt6ezoW2B7062F88NrhosQPBEsQwSHGEEFO7N8ofUu8Dsu7Pvyj7b4lwjPDIDMLm7-tQszq3D1BlD-M0g6-Opn4NhCKm3U_aArmxZYCY/s640/blogger-image--1517597298.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="301" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2WK3L2wuIfSB4AfFverJ8ckf_KSnTaEfWf7aVt6ezoW2B7062F88NrhosQPBEsQwSHGEEFO7N8ofUu8Dsu7Pvyj7b4lwjPDIDMLm7-tQszq3D1BlD-M0g6-Opn4NhCKm3U_aArmxZYCY/s320/blogger-image--1517597298.jpg" width="320" /></a><span style="font-family: "helvetica neue light" , , "helvetica" , "arial" , sans-serif;">One of the main ways I have chosen to make cuts in my budget is cutting the cable off. I didn't come to this decision lightly, but I couldn't get around the fact that I had to pay all this money for a crap ton of cable channels that my family doesn't even watch. I work night shift, so my favorite shows come on when I am sleeping, working, or getting ready for work. Because of this, I have to either purchase the higher priced packages for DVR purposes or compensate with online viewing. Here are a couple of workarounds that can help you ditch your cable bill for good! </span></div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
A digital antenna is a one time purchase, no monthly fee! These antennas give you access to digital channels like ABC, CBS, PBS (for those of you with little ones, I actually get two different PBS channels for the toddler to watch), FOX and more. Antennas can cost as low as $10, all the way up to over $100. The lower priced antennas will have to be connected to your individual TVs, while the larger, more expensive types can be hooked up outside your home. Here is a great article on choosing and installing an outdoor antenna. <a href="http://www.crutchfield.com/S-XhpyU1Aeg7a/learn/learningcenter/home/antenna.html">Crutchfield.com</a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Internet Based TV is really popular these days. For those of you who don't already know about Netflix and Hulu, they are online streaming venues that allow you to watch TV shows, movies, documentaries and so on, over your internet. You can purchase a Chrome cast ($30) or a Blue Ray Player ($60+) to stream them, watch from your computer or tablet, or hook up your tablet to be viewed on your TV screen. There is also Rabbit TV. This little USB can be plugged into your TV and stream in this fashion. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
An easy way to save money on internet TV is to share username and passwords. Get a couple of friends and or family members to purchase one monthly subscription to Hulu, or Netflix and share. Now if you have someone in the group who HAS to have cable you can share with them as well. Using their password information will give you access to premium channels like HBO Go, and Showtime Anytime. If that person has Comcast, you can use Xfinity online to watch cable shows streaming live! Sharing passwords for these sites will save everyone money, and allow everyone to watch their favorite shows. Sharing is caring people. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I do have a few drawbacks that I've come across. If you go the cheaper route on antennas, you'll need to buy one for every TV in your house. I started out with one antenna and have purchased two of the cheaper ones since then. Also, for those who still own a couple of box TVs, you'll need to purchase a digital converter box in order to receive the digital channels. Cheapest i've seen on this is $30. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
All in all, for as low as $10 per TV, you could be watching American Idol, Scandal, Fox Sports and more! Keep in mind this is without any reoccurring charges. You pay a one time fee to start up, and it's very inexpensive to start small. How's that for saving some big dollars in the long run?</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Do you have any tips on saving money on cable TV? If so, what has worked for you?</div>

Have a new and functional closet at no cost! Watch how I reuse and repurpose things around the house in order to create a fully functioning space that can fit your needs.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This is my hallway closet. I guess people typically store coats, vacuums and what not. I don't know, we've always had a mishmash of things. I had the desire to have this closet house our daily worn coats. Sounds silly, but our coats tend to land on the backs of the dinning room chairs. This has been a completely wasted area in my house. Clearly a bunch of stuff just tossed in here on the floor. So I cleaned it up, and took out everything that already had a home elsewhere in the house (ex: wrapping paper goes upstairs). I left everything else, and just re-ordered it a bit. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
There is now space to hang coats/and guests coats. I took this picture after I removed about 7 sweatshirts that no longer fit anyone living in the house (off to goodwill they go). </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
My daughters old hanging closet organizer now houses my random collection of bags, including the reusable ones for the grocery store, book bags, and totes.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The file boxes and computer paper box contains old and current items to be filed or shredded. Thats a whole other project. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Eating healthy can be a challenge all by itself. Now couple that with limited funds and one can become discouraged fairly quicklly. It is so easy to get that dollar burger, or low quality frozen heat and eat item. Many people think that you can't buy healthy food with coupons. While that may be true for most coupons, it is not true for all of them. I have had several coupons that were for vegetables, wheat breads, frozen fruit, low fat items, and so on. While you may not be able to purchase everything in your basket with a "healthy" </span><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">coupon, you can most certainly get healthy items for great prices.</span></div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSlFlOA0arXaSSStqT3V14r41dcAOqu9rf0WLyqjJWcegYffAUPy6Uux6ZGHm02uuaPmAVwpMNQ4KZAEh-iKXhqcKJ4WZHvwa6R2S6NBkhyphenhyphenWL8_x3WflqVqeYW9YCgl1KpoDnspIOFI3U/s640/blogger-image-466701303.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="368" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSlFlOA0arXaSSStqT3V14r41dcAOqu9rf0WLyqjJWcegYffAUPy6Uux6ZGHm02uuaPmAVwpMNQ4KZAEh-iKXhqcKJ4WZHvwa6R2S6NBkhyphenhyphenWL8_x3WflqVqeYW9YCgl1KpoDnspIOFI3U/s400/blogger-image-466701303.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
For example, stores have fresh produce on sale all the time. I personally don't buy a fresh veggie or fruit unless they are on sale for $0.99/lb or less. Bananas are a staple in my house, and they are always cheap! I use the stores sales that week as shopping list (see my "shopping the sales" post) and just buy whatever fruits and veggies are on sale. <br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Frozen veggies are another inexpensive option. I normally spend $0.99 per bag on frozen veggies. You could also buy frozen veggies in bulk (or larger bags) and double up on your veggies for meals. If you have cooked a not so healthy side dish that your family loves (this happens often in my house), you can have double veggies on your plate. Just grab a single serving out of the bag and heat it up. Simple.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I hardly ever buy canned veggies for a couple of reasons. The sodium content is usually unfavorable, and they just don't taste fresh at all to me. However, if that's your thing, you can also find them on sale for $0.50 per can! Pretty cheap too.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
You can get a couple of healthy things from the Dollar Tree. I recently started to purchase my brown rice from there. Uncle Ben's would cost me $3.50ish per bag. I love Uncle Ben's but I need to make cuts wherever possible. They also sell a variety of dried beans. My Dollar Tree also has a refrigerated section with frozen fruits and veggies.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
For those cereal eaters out there, you are not forced to buy super sweet cereals with coupons. You have a choice with most coupons. Several will say $1.00 off any "General Mills" cereal. I can almost always get Cheerios for $2 or less per box. Also, I often times receive coupons for Fiber One, Special K, and Kashi cereals as well. As far as milk is concerned, well thats just an expensive necessary evil. However, low fat and skim milks tend to cost less than whole milks these days. And for you lactose intolerants, there are plenty of coupons for almond and soy milks all the time.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So these are just a few ideas to get you going on your healthy eating journey (on the cheap). How do you save money on the healthy things you buy?</div>

<div>
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">$50 shopping trip at Kroger was successful today. I LOVE KROGER! They had this awesome sale of random items where if you Buy 6 "said" items (mix/match) you get to take advantage of the sales price. So I won't do a verbatim brake down, but here are some of the highlights. </span></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
First off I would have spent $86 on this shopping trip, but I had $7.20 in manufacturer coupons ($1.20 of those were "peelies" I picked up in the store) and I had the rest from one Sunday paper. The other $25 in coupons, or savings, were comprised of the sales that Kroger had today. <b> <u>My total bill was $53!</u> </b> Ignore the alcohol at the bottom of the receipt :)</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I really like "Shopping the Sales" at Kroger because you can really get a random selection of food for great prices. Now, $50 is only half of my two week food budget. So I have the rest of my the funds to spend on bread (if I get too lazy to make my own), eggs, fresh veggies, and meats for dinner. Please look at my post on how I "Shop the Sales" and see how you can save money when doing your weekly shopping. I may or may not buy the rest of my food items at Kroger. It merely depends on what sales come available on Sunday at other stores and what I am planning to cook for the weeks to come.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUSh4yCHfshz3Gb5wh5FaQh4HpQZj5a150iGZHSQzkYom_2CyNzMplVSGhC1s-hqtIx6iQFzbxL-qmcl0gmNAwOFuuQ7ChZc6ko_dvy3lFQ9wlWQ4wM_hzl_W-MmS3JUAgF7dLFhM6Yf0/s640/blogger-image-467861532.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="292" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUSh4yCHfshz3Gb5wh5FaQh4HpQZj5a150iGZHSQzkYom_2CyNzMplVSGhC1s-hqtIx6iQFzbxL-qmcl0gmNAwOFuuQ7ChZc6ko_dvy3lFQ9wlWQ4wM_hzl_W-MmS3JUAgF7dLFhM6Yf0/s320/blogger-image-467861532.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Other shopping highlights:</div>
<div>
-I hit the clearance isle and found taco sauce, and canned goods for less than $0.50</div>
<div>
-I also got a box of Fruit Loops and a large apple sauce for $1.25</div>
<div>
-All my other boxes of cereal were $2.00 a box</div>
<div>
-They also had several types of greens, lettuce, and several fruits on sale for $0.99/lb.</div>
<div>
-Almost everything else was purchased from the Buy 6 and Save sale</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Keep in mind, I had a pack of Pull Ups and two packs of wipes on my shopping list totaling $9.50 (normally $12.50 at Kroger and Walmart - I shop there too sometimes). I also purchased two Arm and Hammer detergents for a sale price of $1.75 per bottle (sale price + $1.50 coupon). So if your not potty training a toddler and or in need of laundry detergent, you could use that extra money to spend on other food items. I highly recommend shopping at Kroger if you have one in your area. If not, do you have a store where you live that has great sales like this?</div>

<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The most amazing alternative to cable or listening to music, that I have found, is online talk radio. Now I know you're probably thinking, umm no thanks! But there are some amazing shows and plenty of great content out there. This is how I got hooked: </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
At my job, I am able to listen to music or whatever with ear buds. I've been at my job for 3 years. So just listening to music, especially in the middle of the night, can become boring. Not to mention, music just isn't the same as it used to be! So I found a talk radio app called Sticher. Side Bar: I never thought that I would ever listen to talk radio. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So initially I began searching for mommyish stuff. I don't have any mommy friends that I talk to on a consistent basis, so at that time when Miss Li was still really young, I had a strong desire to interact with other moms and share experiences. When I stumbled across <u>Mommies Cocktail Hour</u>, I thought, "moms having drinks, this should be good." After one episode I was hooked! I have been listening for 3 years now, and I love love love those ladies. Their kids range in ages, and I have learned a great deal from them. Topics on parenting, balancing being a wife and mother, "Fabulous Finds", and so much more. I recommend this podcast to women who don't have children as well, these girls are hilarious.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Another podcast that I am obsessed with is <u>Dave Ramsey'</u>s podcast. He talks about getting out of debt and creating wealth. <u>Suzie Orman's</u> podcast is also in my favorites list. She talks about the same money topics, but both shows are completely different. With my mission to save money, these two are always in my ear. I can't get enough!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<u>Joyce Meyer</u> is also on my favorites list. I don't go to church regularly but I adore Joyce. She keeps it super real, relatable, and she makes me laugh too. I really appreciate her approach to sharing God's word. Very different from anyone else I have ever heard.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The last but not least podcast in my favorites list is <u>Simple Life Together.</u> This is about simplifying your life, and the couple that does this podcast are great. They are genuine, helpful, and a pleasure to listen to. They aren't casting as often as they used to, but please go back and listen to some of their older episodes. They are really helpful in organizing and cutting back on the unnecessary. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So these are my favs, but I do have several other ones that I listen to on a regular basis. I am recently obsessed with <u>The Frugal House</u>, which hasn't had any new episodes for a year, but the information is still very valuable today. <u>Naptime Radio</u> is another mommy podcast and these two are really funny. Different vibe from Mommies Cocktail Hour, but definitely one to check out. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
If you have any type of commute to work or a long drive to somewhere, you can pull up the app and listen while you are on the road. There are a couple of great features too. If you're listening to a show and you need to stop and come back to it at some other time, you can pause it and completely close the app. When you come back to the show it will pick up right where you left off! Also, if you are around a wireless network, you can download you favorite shows latest episode and listen to it offline! This feature has worked wonders for me, since I have recently cut the cable off (which included wireless internet). Any other podcast lovers out there? And if so, what do you recommend?</div>

This event can happen with family members, friends, or at work. Case/pointe: Every Wednesday morning I go to breakfast (Panera/Einstein Bagel/ or an actual sit down restaurant). I get off of work at 6:30 am and have a meeting at 10 am. Now I live about 1/2 hour from work, so going home and returning for the meeting doesn't make sense as far as gas $ and time. So I hang around with my co-workers until meeting time. Naturally that puts us at a restaurant and a trip to Starbucks; how else are we going to stay awake for the meeting (lol)</span></div><div><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><br></span></div><div>I <span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">have come to the realization that the Starbucks/breakfast trips need to stop. I really enjoy that down time, with my co-workers. I feel like i'm out with friends (and I almost never get outings with friends). While there is no pressure to go and or spend money, I want the restaurant foods and specialty coffee. I work hard, don't I deserve it? Sure I do, but can I afford it? Nope! Now the logical thing to do would be to bring my breakfast food with me. Also, I get a surplus of free coffee at work. I could completely bring my "to go" cup to Starbucks with some coffee from work (FYI we sit outside of Starbucks). But I know myself, and I would rather abstain all together. So instead of going to Starbucks with my co-workers, I am going to use the time on Wednesdays to work on "drtcheap"! Now, i'm not sure if I'll just stay at work and use the break room, or if i'll go the library or something (it's not far from my job). I'll keep you all posted on my Starbucks struggle. Do you feel the "Starbucks Struggle" at your workplace? What kind of things do your co-workers do regularly that you aren't able to participate in because of finances?</span></div><div> <span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span></div><div><br></div>drtcheaphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12965342815375266436noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8871157192633320958.post-55130307204696493692014-10-31T08:25:00.001-07:002014-10-31T08:25:06.045-07:00DIY Tissue Roll<div>The "toddler" has her first cold ever! So it's been a really interesting week of whining, crying, and snotty noses. I am one of those people who refuse to buy a box of tissues. Why? They always run out, and you end up using toilet paper anyway. Whats the point? So I will have a random roll of toilet paper in my bedroom (at all times) to use for tissues. Well with Miss Li being sick, I need to be able to have my "roll of tissues" in other rooms as well. I'm not that tacky, I don't have a roll of toilet paper chillin in the living room. So how could I use my roll of toilet paper, but have it look as nice as some of those fancy designed tissue boxes in the stores, all while maintiaining its function as a box of tissues would? Well, I have used the age old design of a crochet or knit toilet paper holder, and am using it as my tissue box, or tissue cover. You know what I mean. Here are the details:</div><div><br></div><div>I crocheted a simple flat circle, and made it the diameter of my toilet paper. I always buy Scott 1000 roll, or the generic Scott, so my toilet paper is always the same size. I then finished the cover by "working in a round" (crochet talk) and stopped at the desired length. </div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><br></div><div>You then need to get your toilet paper, and remove the inner cardboard tube.</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaPiFYuGwraOF00eNgzW5HtOu0M4W1PxBnd_uJmPBe30YaAo1fWPUC3eLsLpsELZpBmd0lqPE1etGoTowTs09i88VCMyMGtWILMKFzGSqsD1dcW1XYvDUX5RAmDffHDib_Qf23alXV3sU/s640/blogger-image-1064160526.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaPiFYuGwraOF00eNgzW5HtOu0M4W1PxBnd_uJmPBe30YaAo1fWPUC3eLsLpsELZpBmd0lqPE1etGoTowTs09i88VCMyMGtWILMKFzGSqsD1dcW1XYvDUX5RAmDffHDib_Qf23alXV3sU/s640/blogger-image-1064160526.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">You may need to pinch the tube, and shimmy a little bit to completely get it out.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaHOyiTECMDIuSplWFJaIk3IZFop8CYZKU95MRBwMo0ZhZ7TwG1GgAxlMc0YK1KSevXeWIMQBfNhQIqNyrOcoJpLucaw0RaihpM-EC-0l3FNFjK9AnhRA5AiDyLaOKcnPGFW6gz4PjdPA/s640/blogger-image--469993992.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaHOyiTECMDIuSplWFJaIk3IZFop8CYZKU95MRBwMo0ZhZ7TwG1GgAxlMc0YK1KSevXeWIMQBfNhQIqNyrOcoJpLucaw0RaihpM-EC-0l3FNFjK9AnhRA5AiDyLaOKcnPGFW6gz4PjdPA/s640/blogger-image--469993992.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">The toilet paper is actually attached to the carboard tube (naturally) when you pull it out, but no worries, that will be the start of your "tissues".</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXL4igWBbr-i_uwDOxx_zruOFcFXk_2rqU5NuH98x9-dZZXtAgE86YCUSLQsJ7YcKvcIN5mRvNS2NbWR2IX0I98Mur4dUpLdwf-dTQMjQH9UmYl_29tZdl08W80ijMBo64hyphenhyphenE4lBcPxkk/s640/blogger-image-148885495.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXL4igWBbr-i_uwDOxx_zruOFcFXk_2rqU5NuH98x9-dZZXtAgE86YCUSLQsJ7YcKvcIN5mRvNS2NbWR2IX0I98Mur4dUpLdwf-dTQMjQH9UmYl_29tZdl08W80ijMBo64hyphenhyphenE4lBcPxkk/s640/blogger-image-148885495.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">At this point you can cover your toilet paper with the crochet cover, and slip the toilet paper throught the hole on the top.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjMLOSUIr5Gqe26LgpZBUj9K98wMuANQj88FGwujema0IE_M7COGpiRrSN8K2HHu-0oC0gyMT3SRoYLCuxFbyGwtqI68ERniaGbdMspJR_QHuXB_GFb65fSlnGeK0CjRBr08ZxoWwm-8I/s640/blogger-image-2057328834.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjMLOSUIr5Gqe26LgpZBUj9K98wMuANQj88FGwujema0IE_M7COGpiRrSN8K2HHu-0oC0gyMT3SRoYLCuxFbyGwtqI68ERniaGbdMspJR_QHuXB_GFb65fSlnGeK0CjRBr08ZxoWwm-8I/s640/blogger-image-2057328834.jpg"></a></div><br></div>And now I have a "fancy" toilet-tissue paper holder! Now, because the tissues are being pulled from the inside of the roll, the shape should stay pretty much the same, however I imagine that as the roll gets used more and more, eventually it will start to lose its shape (will keep you updated when I reach the end of the roll)<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">. But good news my friends, when and if that happens, I'll just slap that sucker in a bathroom for normal use. Win win! If you want more information on how I created the "cover" I can send you detailed instructions. </span></div><br></div><br></div>drtcheaphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12965342815375266436noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8871157192633320958.post-41639010911280853952014-10-24T08:09:00.002-07:002014-10-24T08:09:46.978-07:00Shopping The Sales<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I do what's called, "shopping the sales." I buy what's on sale, and I create meals from whatever I purchase. Now, I don't go crazy and purchase things I've never heard of or don't like, but I do try something new each week. This form of shopping has definitely enhanced my cooking skills, and recipe repertoire! Here are the details:</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I purchase 4 Sunday papers (I buy 4 papers for coupon purposes). Once I separate and cut out my coupons, I then look through the sales papers. I mainly focus my energies on Kroger, Martin's, CVS, and Target. I circle the items that I am interested in buying. I will buy anything that we normally eat/love or buy anything that I want to try and make a meal with. For example, I don't eat yogurt every week, but if greek yogurt is on sale at a particular store i'll buy it and have it as a snack for work. Another example, Kroger normally has some sort of fresh veggie on sale for $0.99/lb so i'll buy that (it's normally eggplant, squash, or greens). So whatever is on sale, I figure out meals from what I bring home from the store. Here are a couple of pics of my Kroger shopping trips:</span></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBFrutGAPKI_M0GdWzVquIRjKjaFCBCTkO-baE6nDCQZMC8JuGgXrmmlVfqi1Dn91u9K6jIAPSigS2y7HwihPPlMhrsEWPmf3Zmn6K9q7zm4H_QE9j4S9X1m2DW_hUBUcRDcywsvoYRtM/s640/blogger-image--1086740447.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="237" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBFrutGAPKI_M0GdWzVquIRjKjaFCBCTkO-baE6nDCQZMC8JuGgXrmmlVfqi1Dn91u9K6jIAPSigS2y7HwihPPlMhrsEWPmf3Zmn6K9q7zm4H_QE9j4S9X1m2DW_hUBUcRDcywsvoYRtM/s400/blogger-image--1086740447.jpg" width="400" /></a> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjE8L4dXpgfjut0mk_Ke0jfGhhr8j6IzH_lm2piRfI0cFy5wTrFjH6yXGZTiX6Qad737HQXQndqkFOobUWZgf88gkFI_FngclO4-Fhba_VKpXnlZBLLT1k2OtX2rDo1-ZA3OOd5xwhEjgk/s640/blogger-image--567805632.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="158" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjE8L4dXpgfjut0mk_Ke0jfGhhr8j6IzH_lm2piRfI0cFy5wTrFjH6yXGZTiX6Qad737HQXQndqkFOobUWZgf88gkFI_FngclO4-Fhba_VKpXnlZBLLT1k2OtX2rDo1-ZA3OOd5xwhEjgk/s400/blogger-image--567805632.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">So after I have wrote down all of the items and their prices of things I plan to buy, I then match up the coupons to what's on sale. This part is pretty quick for me. I am familiar with what coupons I have on hand, and also familiar with what coupons normally come in a paper. For example, if I received a P&G coupon insert, and Febreeze is on sale at Kroger, I know I more then likely have a coupon for that. This part will get quicker with time. </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Once you pull your coupons, and match them up with what's on sale, you can then finalize your list with which store has the better deal. A lot of the time, if a coupon insert comes out on a hot item, all of your stores will have it on sale, in hopes that "us" couponers go and purchase the item from their store. </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">If you have items that are on sale that you wish you had a coupon for, Google the product. There are websites like <a href="http://www.coupon.com/">www.coupon.com</a> that allow you to print coupons. Also, many bloggers out there will have links directly to the coupons that you want to print. Some of my favorites are: </span></div>

<i><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><a href="https://www.blogger.com/"><span id="goog_150192339"></span>http://athriftymom.com <span id="goog_150192340"></span></a> </span></i></div>

<i><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><a href="http://www.livingrichwithcoupons.com/">http://www.livingrichwithcoupons.com</a> </span></i></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Once this is done, I write my shopping list on a piece of notebook paper that sits in the front of my coupon binder. You can use whatever you like, smartphone, or printed list from you computer. Here are a few downloadable sheets to get started. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br />
</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Going to the store is easy at this point. If you have a Walmart in your area, they do price matching. All you need is the circular from the other store, and they will give you that item, for the competitors price. Some restrictions may apply, I suggest calling or going into your local Walmart to verify. So if there are any name brand items on your list, you only have to shop at that one store!</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Recently, I have seen that I get the most for my money at Kroger. "Shopping their sales" has cost me $50 every two weeks. Now that's for the bulk of my shopping. I normally buy meats when I have extra money and only buy meats if they have been marked down (I'll throw em in my deep freezer) or if they are $0.99/lb or less. </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">This also really helps with bringing variety in our diets! I try to keep rice, flour, and pasta of some sort on hand. The rest is brought regularly. How do you normally shop? Has anyone tried bulk shopping and if so, how is it beneficial to your food budget?</span></div>

I have powered through the depths of hell (getting a degree in biochemistry) and had a bit of an interesting childhood, born and raised in NJ. But balancing the life of a working wife and mother, whew! No easy feat. My toddler is 2.5 years old and OMG she is a handful!!! Miss busy body, and into everything. My husband works from home (stay tuned for information on his home based business), and cares for the toddler while I'm sleeping/working. I started this blog to join with others on similar journeys, those that have a desire to save some extra money, and people who love to or want to be better at organizing their lives. And let's not forget about the folks who enjoy reading what comes out of my head and onto a page :)</div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>It's no mystery why most people need to save money. I am no different. We have normal debt around here. Mortgage, credit cards, car loans, and student loans. While I am not a coupon expert at this time, I aim to be one very soon LOL. And by no means am I a certified professional organizer, but organization has been a longtime passion of mine. I'm looking forward to being debt free, saving money every time I go grocery shopping, being innovative with ways to "not" spend money, and to share with others while doing it. I hope you all find these posts useful, encouraging, or just plain old enjoyable!</div><div><br></div>drtcheaphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12965342815375266436noreply@blogger.com0
